In April 2025, the RURACTIVE project consortium came together in the picturesque coastal city of Zadar, Croatia, for its annual knowledge transfer and progress meeting. This key event brought together all 29 project partners along with dedicated local community trainers to exchange ideas, reflect on achievements, and map the path forward.

Joining the international NoVir consortium alongside project coordinator Ethris GmbH, as well as the Technical University of Munich and Aarhus University, EURICE expands its portfolio of projects seeking to advance future mRNA-based therapies. Funded through the European Union’s EU4Health Programme with nearly €10 million over the next two years, NoVir aims to enhance public health resilience in future pandemics.

On 26/27 May, leading actors from the Polish research and innovation (R&I) landscape in collaboration with the European Commission will hold the high-level conference “EUTechSovereignty2025” on the strategic development of European technological sovereignty and knowledge valorisation practices in thriving innovation ecosystems.

The REDDIE project is excited to announce a two-part webinar series focused on advancing the use of real-world data (RWD) in clinical research. These events aim to foster collaboration and spark innovation by connecting researchers, clinicians, data scientists, and other stakeholders across the healthcare data landscape.

The ENLIGHTENme project, a pioneering European research initiative exploring the impact of urban lighting on human health and wellbeing, has officially concluded after four years of innovative work. Funded under the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme, the project brought together 22 partners from across Europe, uniting experts in public health, urban planning, lighting design, and social sciences. Launched in 2021, ENLIGHTENme aimed to investigate how artificial lighting in urban environments affects the physical and mental health of residents, particularly in vulnerable and ageing populations. Through an interdisciplinary approach and real-life urban lighting labs in Bologna (Italy), Amsterdam (The Netherlands), and Tartu (Estonia), the project has delivered actionable insights and policy recommendations for healthier, more inclusive cities.

On 28 January, as part of the Pre-Conference mRNA Technology & Innovation Day at the 4th mRNA-Based Therapeutics Summit Europe, EURICE brought together a number of leading innovators in the field of RNA-based therapeutics to mark the end of the EU-funded EXPERT project.

The EU-funded project READJUST has released its first video, highlighting the project’s vision and mission to make twin transition policies fair and inclusive. The short, two-minute animation explains the advantages and challenges of the twin transition, especially in the mobility and agri-food sectors. Furthermore, it illustrates how these transformations can create significant barriers for communities with limited access to technology, digital tools, training and financial support. The video also introduces the concrete tools that READJUST is developing to support policymakers in promoting a just and equitable transition for all:

Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) are medicines based on genes, cells and tissues for human use that can sustainably improve or even cure diseases that currently have no or inadequate standard-of-care options. However, several hurdles remain unsolved and prevent the implementation of these innovative therapy options into effective clinical applications. JOIN4ATMP aims to accelerate European ATMP development and ensure widespread ATMP access while fostering the expansion of strong Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) on a European level.

Real-world data (RWD) is playing an increasingly vital role in shaping healthcare research and decision-making across Europe. By capturing insights from real-life clinical practice, RWD enhances real-world evidence (RWE), enabling regulatory bodies, policymakers, and researchers to make informed decisions that improve patient outcomes. As the European healthcare landscape evolves, the integration of RWD is crucial for refining treatment guidelines, accelerating innovation, and ensuring that healthcare solutions are tailored to real patient needs. Collaborative efforts like REALM, REDDIE, and other MetReal cluster initiatives are at the forefront of harnessing RWD to support evidence-based policymaking and regulatory advancements.

From 29th January to 1st February the 28 FoodLAND partners from Europe and Africa gathered in Meknès, Morocco for the final FoodLAND project meeting bringing the four-and-a-half years of innovative work in agriculture, nutrition and food security slowly to an end.

As the miGut-Health project enters year three, partners have made crucial strides in advancing the understanding of gut health and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Over the past two years, the research teams have validated and identified biomarkers in relation to IBD and gut health, created personalised prevention measures, and developed digital tools further. For 2025, ambitious plans have been kickstarted to advance these milestones to improve patient outcomes.
