Boosting Rural Innovation: EURICE Guides RURACTIVE Dynamos in Strategic Ecosystem Engagement
In April 2025, the RURACTIVE project consortium came together in the picturesque coastal city of Zadar, Croatia, for its annual knowledge transfer and progress meeting. This key event brought together all 29 project partners along with dedicated local community trainers to exchange ideas, reflect on achievements, and map the path forward.
Actively involved in the Horizon Europe-funded RURACTIVE project, EURICE continues to play a strategic role in advancing inclusive, smart, and sustainable development in Europe’s rural regions. The project is all about co-creating innovative, locally tailored solutions—by and for the people—through collaboration between communities, policymakers, and grassroots organisations, among others. At the heart of RURACTIVE are its ‘Dynamos’: diverse rural pilot regions spanning from islands and coasts to mountainous and inland areas.
As these regions actively develop local solutions, EURICE hosted a hands-on session in Zadar focused on empowering Dynamos to strategically engage future users and boost solution uptake. The session began with a presentation introducing a practical communication strategy, highlighting how to set clear goals, define key audiences, and craft targeted outreach. Participants explored storytelling techniques, event ideas, and partnership-building methods—all geared toward ensuring lasting impact and visibility.
The presentation was followed by an interactive workshop, where Dynamos swapped insights, shared best practices, and began shaping their own local communication plans. Partners engaged in lively discussions, fuelling new ideas for community engagement.
“Supporting the Dynamos in strategically approaching their local communication efforts has been incredibly rewarding,” said Nina Baltes, Senior Communications Manager at EURICE. “It’s about more than just sharing expertise—it’s about co-creating meaningful ways for local communities to connect, collaborate, and truly bring their innovations to life.”
The workshop was met with enthusiasm, sparking fresh momentum among the Dynamos as they continue their mission to transform rural regions across Europe—together, and from the ground up.
