The European Commission is inviting research and innovation stakeholders to join a new Community of Practice dedicated to improving the uptake and valorisation of multidisciplinary research and innovation results across Europe.
The initiative will bring together researchers, universities, intermediaries, policymakers, funders, and other actors involved in generating, using, or valorising multidisciplinary knowledge. Participants will exchange best practices, discuss barriers and enabling conditions, and contribute to the development of practical and policy recommendations aimed at strengthening the impact of multidisciplinary research.
The Community of Practice will begin its activities in September 2026 and run until December 2026, with a series of online meetings and collaborative exchanges. The insights collected will help shape future European Commission policy guidance on increasing the uptake of multidisciplinary research and innovation results.
The initiative forms part of the European Research Area (ERA) Policy Agenda 2025–2027, specifically the action on upscaling knowledge valorisation capacities and activities. It complements an ongoing study and upcoming practical guidance that will support research projects in creating greater value from multidisciplinary and Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) research results.
By fostering dialogue and collaboration across disciplines and sectors, the Community aims to unlock the full potential of multidisciplinary research in addressing societal and economic challenges.
Express your interest in joining the Community of Practice to shape future policy guidance.
