A new Quantum Computing Advisory Board (Q-CAB) has been established to provide the European Commission with independent, platform-neutral guidance on the state and future trajectory of quantum computing in Europe. Bringing together leading experts from across academia and industry, the Board will support strategic decision-making as the field continues to evolve rapidly. Its launch comes at a pivotal time for Europe’s quantum ambitions. With a European Quantum Act on the horizon and recent developments expanding the role of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking to encompass quantum technologies, the policy and coordination landscape is undergoing significant transformation. In this context, a dedicated body that can bridge scientific insight and industrial perspective is key to aligning policy with both technological progress and ecosystem needs.
The Board is chaired by Prof. Peter Zoller (University of Innsbruck), one of Europe’s foremost quantum physicists and a member of the PASQuanS2 project, highlighting the close link between cutting-edge research initiatives and high-level policy advisory structures.
Through its independent assessments and cross-platform perspective, the Q-CAB is set to play an important role in guiding Europe’s efforts to scale quantum computing, strengthen its innovation capacity, and remain competitive on the global stage.
