After a welcome note by the host Prof. Thomas Hankemeier, Head of the Division for Analytical Biosciences, and Prof. Rudi Balling, Director of the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB), the event started with a status update by each Work Package Leader providing a summary of the work achieved during the first year of the project.
The consortium then enjoyed a guided tour provided by the Division for Analytical Biosciences that gave interested participants an insight into the facilities and labs. The day was rounded off with a joint working dinner at a local restaurant where participants continued their discussions from previous meeting sessions.
On the second meeting day, the morning session was primarily dedicated to roundtable sessions where the partners split up in groups to discuss and plan the project activities for the coming months. Two members of the External Advisory Board, Prof. Anthony Lang, Director of the Movement Disorders Clinic, and Prof. Walter Kolch, Director of Systems Biology Ireland (SBI), were also present to provide their expertise and feedback.
In addition to the meeting sessions, SysMedPD researchers displayed scientific posters that gave interested participants an insight into their project-related research topics. Further, participants of the consortium enjoyed a tour through the facilities of industrial project partner Mimetas.
In the coming months, the SysMedPD consortium will continue to intensify its collaboration to reach the project goals. The 2nd Progress Meeting will be hosted by the University of Luebeck and will take place at the beginning of 2018.
The Eurice team is involved in SysMedPD as management and dissemination partner and contributes to the successful implementation of the project goals by supporting the consortium in all aspects of project management and dissemination activities such as the project website and events.
