Revolutionising Lithium-ion Battery Technology for Enhanced Safety: INERRANT Releases Project Video
As the world faces the challenges of climate change, environmental degradation, and rapid digital transformation, the demand for innovative battery technologies to support e-mobility, clean energy storage, and consumer electronics has never been greater. Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) remain among the most vital energy storage solutions available today. However, existing technologies continue to face key challenges in performance, sustainability, and recyclability, while their production heavily relies on critical raw materials.
The INERRANT project is taking on these key challenges by advancing LIB technology through the development of novel materials, next-generation electrolytes, and sustainable recycling methods that enhance both safety and recyclability. By addressing the entire battery lifecycle – from design and manufacturing to end-of-life management – INERRANT applies cutting-edge research to drive progress toward safer, greener, and more sustainable energy storage and mobility solutions.
