Kick-off Event for Horizon Europe – Registration Open!
Joint Initiative of the Saarland State Chancellary, Saarland University and Route2025
Saarland University in cooperation with the State Chancellery and Route 2025, invites you to the kick-off event "Horizon Europe: Research and Innovation for a better Europe – Opportunities and Expectations from the Saarland’s Perspective“ on 11 December 2020, which will take place online.
Starting next year, "Horizon Europe" will launch as the ninth European Research and Innovation Programme, and the kick-off event aims to inform you ahead of time about its scope and funding measures. Members from Saarland’s research and innovation landscape as well as representatives from politics, education and industry will join the event as keynote speakers and participants will get the chance to listen to interesting talks on Horizon Europe and take a virtual tour of the project showroom to find out more about some of the Saarland’s EU projects from Horizon 2020.
At 1:00 PM, the opening speech by the President of Saarland University, Manfred J. Schmitt, will be the first of a series of keynote speeches featuring:
- Tobias Hans – Saarland Prime Minister
- Signe Ratso – Deputy Director-General, Directorate-General "Research and Innovation" (RTD)
- Anja Karliczek – Federal Minister, Ministry of Education and Research
Following the talks, you are welcome to join a panel discussion at 2:30 PM, where the speakers will answer individual questions about the opportunities the European Research and Innovation Funding Programme offers, and the expectations linked therein. Throughout this time, the project showroom will be open to visit.
The event will be followed by a series of satellite events for a digital "Horizon Europe" week from 14-16 December 2020 which will provide you with more information on specific work programmes and other helpful support measures.

About Route2025
Saarland University has launched the Route2025 project to support researchers and entrepreneurs based in Saarland in successfully obtaining funds from Brussels and participating in EU research and innovation projects. The initiative is supported by the State Chancellery with funds from the Saarland and from the European Union within the framework of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Eurice supports the Route2025 team with guidance on new project applications and proposals, the organisation of training events and communication and outreach measures.
