EURICE Completes Successfully the Pilot Phase of a New EU Innovation Advisory Service
The Horizon IP Scan was launched as a pilot service by the European Commission and European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA). Operated by EURICE from November 2020 until November 2023, the service helped over 350 European start-ups and SMEs in valorising intellectual assets generated in collaborative research and innovation (R&I) activities.
As a main outcome, the service helped the SMEs gain a clearer picture of their intellectual asset portfolios and associated strategies, allowing them to enter collaborative R&I projects with greater confidence and an understanding of the importance of discussing (joint) intellectual property (IP) strategies as early as possible.
The Horizon IP Scan team published a Study Report to analyse and summarise the key results and lessons learnt from providing the Horizon IP Scan services. The report shares insights into the main IP challenges faced by SMEs when participating in collaborative Horizon 2020/Horizon Europe projects.
The Study Report is available in the European Commission (EC) Publication Office and can also be found on the EC Knowledge Valorisation Platform.
