Best Practice for Diabetes Patients: CLOSE Project Receives Positive Evaluation
Coordinator Freimut Schliess highlights coordination support provided by Eurice
Following a recent on-site monitoring visit, the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) has positively evaluated the cross-pillar approach of the CLOSE project. The multinational project team stimulates activities around the innovation triangle that are centred on diabetes and closed-loop metabolic control for people with chronic conditions.

In the January edition of their CLC Newsletter, the EIT Health Germany congratulates the CLOSE team on the positive report and the work achieved so far. In a comprehensive interview published on the EIT Health website, CLOSE coordinator Professor Freimut Schliess, Director Science & Innovation at Profil GmbH, provides in-depth information on the project approach and ambitions highlighting the commitment of the partners involved: “CLOSE is also the organisations and the people who execute the project. In our partnership we combine the power of two large corporations with the agility of smaller companies, the research and education capabilities of two universities, and the strategic intelligence of a business school.”
Since the initial proposal phase of CLOSE, Eurice has been providing coordination support in IP management, mediation of potential conflicts and contracting. “The collaboration guarantees a high effectiveness and efficiency in managing the consortium – even in phases with a high administrative burden.” said Freimut Schliess.
