Major step forward in personalized medicine

“p-medicine” holds final meeting on September 22 and 23, 2015

For the last four years, the 13 million EU-project “p-medicine” has brought together physicians, biologists, computer scientists and legal scholars from Europe and Japan to jointly develop new computer-based tools and innovative technologies with the aim to enhance clinical research and pave the way for a more personalized therapy for patients.

Following the official closing of the project in July, the consortium around project coordinator Prof. Norbert Graf from Saarland University come together for their final project meeting in Homburg/Saar on September 22 and 23, 2015. While the largest part of the meeting is dedicated to a closed meeting between the consortium and the European Commission, the morning of September 22 (from 9 to 12.30) is open to the public. Presentations will cover the regional approach to personalized medicine, results from the project specifically relating to patient empowerment and the legal and ethical framework, and a wider view on big data in the scientific area. The programme is available here.

For more information on the project’s achievements for clinicians and patients, take look at the following video.

On the occasion of the meeting Saarland University has also issued a press release, which is available here.
