Full Title
Network for Competence for Green and White Biotechnology: Creation of a Research Network for the Sustainable Production of Fine Chemicals for Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Use

Programme
INTERREG IV A 2007-2013 Greater Region

Contract Number
80 SMLW 1 1 170

Abstract
The project SaarLorBioTec aims at establishing a cross-border network for competence in the field of biotechnology combining the expertise of five partners (two SMEs, three academic partners) from the German state of Saarland and the French region Lorraine. The development of innovative technologies for the production of chemical molecules (family of phenol and terpene compounds) is the primary goal of SaarLorBioTec.
Since the research activities of the five partners are complementary (some partners are specialised in working with plants and others in working with yeasts and bacteria), their collaboration allows them to cover all steps of the production process. The technology platform, which will be created during the project lifetime, will provide for continuous technology transfer and will increase the importance of Saarland and Lorraine in the international research community.
